Title: Aviation Safety Expert Analyst - Senior Location: Sunnyvale, CA Clearance: N/A Citizenship Requirement: Yes Req #: 3764 Salary: $50/hr Job Summary: Serve as an Aviation Expert Safety Analyst in support of the NASA/FAA ASRS contract. This is a Part-Time, Hourly position with flexible hours. Responsibilities Screen incoming safety incident reports for alert-able aviation hazards using a user-friendly custom software tool. Training would be provided. Perform analysis using the software tool on close call reports for safety events with an eye for criticality and detail Apply operational judgement and decision-making skills to identify, classify, and communicate safety issues Required skills: Total of 10 years of professional aviation operational experience in one of the following areas: FAA Part 121 and / or Part 135 experience FAA Certified Air Traffic Controller (ARTCC, TRACON, or tower or a combination) Airframe/Powerplant/ with Part 135 or 121 experience Familiarity with Personal Computers (PCs), Microsoft (mainly Onedrive, Word and Outlook) and ability to learn a custom browser-based software tool Ideally, candidate is retired, not actively flying, or flying with a small corporate organization. This is due to Conflict of Interest concerns in processing confidential safety reports. Must be able to commute locally to the work facility in Sunnyvale, CA; this is not a remote position and relocation services are not available. Excellent writing and communication skills and attention to detail, especially in use of a computer for day to day tasks. Ability to verbally present safety topics at monthly teleconferences. Ability to locate and use online references (e.g., Microsoft OneDrive) in support of work Successfully complete a background investigation required to obtain NASA badge Typically this position is filled by a retired or not actively flying pilot due to Conflict of Interest constraints Desired Skills: Familiarity with Aviation safety incident reporting (e.g., ASAP, ATSAP, submitted a safety report, safety management system, etc) Familiarity with the NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System (Advisory Circular 00-46F and 14 CFR 91.25), FARs, Maintenance Regulations (14 CFR 121.369, 14 CFR 65.71-95, 14 CFR 101-107, Subpart D - Repairman, Aircraft Maintenance Manual Requirements), and FAA Controller Policy, as applicable. Currently ASRS is addressed in FAAO JO 7200.20 for air traffic controllers. Education and Experience: B.S. degree preferred in relevant domain field or relevant experience
