Overview
We are seeking a network engineer to support Joint Mission Integration and Experimentation (JMIE).
This individual should have a
strong understanding of computers and the OSI or TCP/IP model with the ability to talk with the customer and team members to understand their needs.
Should be a problem solver, strong decision maker, with an ability to map out systematic steps to accomplish targeted goals.
As well as the ability to investigate technical issues and find creative solutions. Primarily will work with multiple networks at once, organizing information and records while prioritizing, planning, and managing stress to meet deadlines leading to keeping networks safe from security breaches.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Maintaining computer networks including local router management, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware
Installing and configuring network equipment
Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues
Manage and maintain a library of network engineering tools, and corresponding processes that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues
Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines
Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems

Essential Physical Tasks:
Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
Potential domestic travel less than 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.
Written Communications:
Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
Verbal Communications:
Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications:
Requires 5-10 years experience with implementation and understanding of Network Engineering principles in a professional environment.
Requires 5-10 years experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures.
Work Schedule:

Ability to work within company and customer schedule requirements which may vary depending on criticality and necessity of a given task.
Travel: Up to 25%
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or Information Technology or related STEM degree required
Certifications:
IAT Level 1 (CompTIA Security + and CCNA)
Pay Range: $95,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually, DOE.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Security Clearance:
Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
