Job Description:
The Maritime Sector of the IMS Segment is seeking a Product Development manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer, who has developed and managed multiple product road maps. This person should be business savvy with a knowledge of financial metrics and an understanding of business development, sales, and opportunity capture. This individual needs to be passionate and skilled at the fundamentals of design engineering, market analysis, and solution development. They will work closely with sector LT members and across functions to maintain product roadmaps, define product evolution, and recommend investments/divestitures.
Essential Functions:
Product Strategy: Collaborate with the strategy team to develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for all Maritime Sector product lines, aligning them with the company's overall goals and objectives.
Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor products. Use this information to make data-driven decisions.
Product Development: Lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and manufacturing, to conceptualize, develop, and recommend expansion of product lines.
Product Lifecycle Management: Work with program managers to capture lifecycle management of existing and new product lines on the product roadmaps.
Customer Engagement: Support business development, strategy, and program managers to build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, gathering feedback and requirements to improve existing products and inform future development.
Marketing Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective marketing strategies, including product launches, promotional materials, and sales support.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize product development and operational risks.
Develop and manage the sector IRAD budget in collaboration with engineering and division general managers.
Coordinate cross sector and cross segment on larger, enterprise-wide product lines.
Advise on starting or acquiring new product lines and divesting existing products.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience or post-graduate degree and 10 years of experience
Prior product design and engineering experience.
Experience conducting market research and analysis
Experience supporting business development and capture teams
Demonstrated ability to present to executives/management on important topics
Demonstrated ability to work independently, identify problems and propose solutions
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, across geographically-disbursed teams
Ability to handle complex problems and take initiative to research issues, engage in self-learning, problem solve, and implement solutions
Ability to establish rapport, communicate effectively, and collaborate with users, data providers, and management at all levels within an organization
Ability to obtain Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
Program management, life cycle process knowledge
Critical thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, high quality of product deliverables
Advanced organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to comfortably adjust as priorities change
Able to operate in a fast-paced environment yet remain focused on long-term organizational goals
