The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, & Earth Science at the University of Miami has an exciting, full time, opportunity for a Building Facility Coordinator to oversee Broad Key.
The primary duties and responsibilities include:
Facilities
Serves as a liaison between Broad Key, RSMAS Facilities administration, outside vendors and Public Safety to evaluate facilities maintenance requirements, recommend possible resolutions initiate and arrange for service and repairs and ensure that work is performed to specification.
Develops and maintains facilities infrastructure agreements, maintenance schedules, and procedures (Internet, power and security systems)
Identify and address infrastructure projects and operational related issues.
Coordinates routine inspections in order to monitor the physical environmental, and security conditions and general maintenance in order to make recommendations to School Administration.
Assist with the Broad Key Budget and works with School Administration to monitor expenditures and makes recommendations as needed in relation to facilities/property, security, lab or maintenance of equipment at Broad Key.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness
Manages and controls access to School facilities by maintaining building locks and keys.
Maintain and monitor security camera system.
Assists with the implementation of the School's disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
Supervise cleanup after emergencies and provides timely maintenance support to units immediately following disasters or emergencies such as hurricanes, fire, floods, burst pipes, etc.
Coordinates maintenance support with University units and outside contractors as appropriate following emergencies and disasters.
Coordinates with University and outside officials the evacuation of the Island due to fire alarms, hurricanes, sub tropical weather or other emergencies and is responsible for obtaining clearance to re-occupy the facilities prior to allowing re-entry by faculty, staff, and students.
Program-Classes
Lead and assist with the presentation of the Citizens Science Program.
Assist in developing and instructing ecology/biology classes for high school and undergraduate students visiting the island.
Assist in conducting and monitoring research and experiments based on and around the island.
General Maintenance
Oversees the repair and replacement of furniture, equipment and Lab.
Provides general maintenance of the houses, equipment and grounds.
Provide maintenance of generator, solar panels, and electrical systems
Maintains boat and operate scuba compressor and equipment ensuring all are operational at all times.

Transportation
Responsible for transporting and hosting guests on the island.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience working in research and educational field desired
Experience working/living in remote, demanding, off grid field environments desired
General maintenance skills are required
Experience operating a tractor and other maintenance equipment is desired
Experience handling and maintaining small boats (
