The Quality Assurance Specialist (Quality Engineer) will be responsible to assist in the management of the Quality Assurance Program for Aircraft Integration & Sustainment (AIS). They will work with senior management to maintain Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance and safety programs, including policies, processes, procedures, and controls. Ensures contract performance conforms to established standards and Government agency guidelines. This position will work closely with the corporate Quality Manager, Site Director, Program Managers and site process owners.
Primary Functions:
Support compliance to Quality Management System procedures.
Acts as the customer liaison for compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction.
Ensure adherence to and compliance with established company quality policies, practices, standard operating procedures, and government regulations.
Advise program on quality control standards and opportunities for improvement.
Ability to conduct Quality Management System Audits, writing detailed quality reports, processes, and procedures that affect program.
Advise program on quality control standards and opportunities for improvement.
Provide oversight for the development and maintenance of quality programs to include an understanding of 8210.1 Flight/Ground Operations Procedures.
Conduct internal and customer quality and safety inspections/audits.
Monitor and track customer quality data of contract operations and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with company programs, FAA, Government directives, airworthiness directives, and aircraft configuration control.
Designated as the Aviation Safety Official.
Ensure corrective measures meet acceptable quality standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that employees meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability.
Submit weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual Quality Assurance Reports.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
Secondary Functions:
Responsible to ensure quality requirements are performed and documented in accordance with applicable regulations regarding maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of aircraft, engine, and aircraft components/parts.
Provide technical knowledge in the fields of mechanics, hydraulics, electricity, sheet metal, rigging, instruments, test flights, etc. in determining document sign off, safety, airworthiness, or conformance.
Reviews paperwork ensuring that all work has been documented properly, completed, and filed in accordance with customer and company standards. Interpret and check prints, both hard copy and electronic, engineering change orders and governmental regulatory procedures and specifications.
Perform materials/Parts receiving Inspections ensuing products meet contract requirements and to determine conformity to blueprint/drawings.
Perform other tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications:
Aviation Quality Assurance experience required.
Shall have a minimum of 10 years in aviation maintenance with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality assurance role.
Experience with AS9110/ISO9110 quality standards, metrics and instructions.
Experience with Government Operations Procedures (FOP/GOPs), DCMA Instruction 8210.
Aviation & Power Plant License, but not required
Experience with FAA 145 Repair Station or equivalent e.g. Parts 121 or 135, but not required.
Must be able to recognize or identify the existence of a problem as well as elements of a problem.
Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
Broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and technical publications.
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical publications, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and inspection findings.
Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain a Government Security Clearance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arm, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work on ladders or maintenance stands.
Able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
MS Office skills (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
