Job Description
Teledyne Defense Electronics' Director of Strategic Growth & Business Development is a start-up, entrepreneurial, and collaborative individual who works with our General Managers, Sales and Business Development teams to define new business strategies that deliver transformational sales growth. In its simplest form, the role of the Strategic Growth & Business Development Director is to evaluate the current Defense Electronics business units' strategies using a consultative approach, develop a tailored plan to address their current short-term needs, and create a roadmap for future growth opportunities.
The Director of Strategic Growth & Business Development will be responsible for working across multiple Defense Electronics business units which have diverse product lines ranging from high frequency and high voltage interconnects to high power helix traveling wave tubes, custom complex RF modules and high reliability semiconductors. This person shall be capable of building relationships and understanding the business unit's challenges, needs, and goals. With this information and a metrics-driven approach, they will evaluate organizational status to current objectives and provide recommendations on long term strategy, roadmaps, and future direction.
The Strategic Growth & Business Development Director should have a comprehensive understanding of the defense industry, including the DoD budgeting process and how to translate this into growth opportunities for Teledyne. Day-to-day activities include communicating directly with business leadership, participating in new product meetings, tracking key performance metrics, leading brainstorming sessions, evaluating DoD contract awards, and developing strategic roadmaps with business units.
Primary responsibilities:
Optimize, organize, and facilitate the defense electronics strategic planning process, as well as more tactical leadership sessions on targeted growth opportunities
Develop strong relationships within key customers, with special focus on identifying & cultivating relationships with key decision makers
Develop, refine, and maintain a defense electronics market segmentation model that includes current and planned major programs
Identify, characterize, and vet future defense electronics growth opportunities, capable of achieving desired growth levels, including potential company or product line acquisitions.
Develop strong relationships with the various defense electronics businesses, as well as across the broader organization
Ensure development of clear, cohesive plans to realize growth on targeted opportunities, including key metric tracking on progress
Develop an acquisition funnel & process capable of successfully generating an acquisition every other year with TDY
Stay abreast of relevant technology trends, markets dynamics and changes at key accounts
Required Experience
10+ years in the defense electronics industry with a deep understanding of DoD Fiscal budget and contract awarding process
Exceptional knowledge in understanding of business models, customer journeys, and growth loops
Experience building trust and partnerships with interdisciplinary teams and their stakeholders
Experience identifying, solving, and articulating complex business and product goals
Experience facilitating brainstorms and workshops, creating exercises and stimuli to shape components for strategy and roadmaps
Experience with all types of creative activities to turn business, customer, and competitive insights into breakthrough new products and experiences
Experience taking an idea from theory and analysis to a market launch
Experience driving growth strategies, frameworks, etc. - from framing a business opportunity to design and product ecosystem recommendations
Master's in electrical engineering and Business Administration preferred
Must be a US Citizen and with the ability to obtain Security Clearance.

Salary Range:
$174,900.00-$234,740.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
