Essential Job Functions:
Offer foundational technical support in infrastructure services, providing assistance in routine tasks.
Assist with infrastructure projects and assignments.
Participate in basic monitoring and routine troubleshooting of infrastructure systems.
Collaborate with team members to address infrastructure challenges and daily operational tasks.
Support the creation and maintenance of infrastructure documentation.
Develop and improve technical skills through on-the-job experience.
Show eagerness to learn and gain expertise in infrastructure services.
Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery.
Provide console operations and monitoring for all z/TPF systems, and respond to system messages and alerts appropriately, escalating to other support groups as required.
Provide console operations and monitoring for TPF related z/VM systems, similar to those provided for z/TPF systems.
Create and execute ITIL based incident, problem, and change tickets utilizing various internal and client specific ticket solutions.
Create and maintain detailed ITIL driven documentation related to the processes, procedures, and activities specific to the z/TPF systems operated for multiple clients.
Participate in execution of hardware related changes in the z/TPF environment, including hardware installations, refreshes, replacements, upgrades, decommissions, and removals, as well as related MCL (microcode) upgrades.
Control and set processing limits of z/TPF CPUs and components, by the execution of system commands to define LPARs, LPAR weighting, z/TPF i-streams, MIPs levels, etc.
Qualifications of TPF Mainframe Console Operator:
High school graduate required, Bachelor's degree in IT related field preferred but not required.
Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task, and work under pressure
Proficiencies in data analysis and problem-solving
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or rotating shift schedules, as part of a 24x7x365 support organization
Other Qualifications:
Basic understanding of TPF Operations Console commands, processes, and procedures to help ensure continuous service delivery, performance, and availability of multiple TPF systems.
Familiarity with TPF utilities and batch jobs to support system maintenance and application processing, including using both direct z/TPF command line input and automated job scheduling systems to manage and document job runs.
General knowledge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware in z/TPF environments, including CPUs, virtual tape subsystems, DASD subsystems, and network architecture, to assist with troubleshooting connectivity and networking issues.
An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or Google Cloud Associate, are a plus.
Work Environment:
On-site training, then remote work.
Tulsa, OK area preferred.
12-hour shifts and potentially overnight work.
Paid overtime.
Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $39,800 - $65,000.
Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
