Empire State University is currently seeking a full-time Bilingual Financial Aid Advisor (State Title: Financial Aid Advisor) to join the Financial Aid team. The Financial Aid Advisor will administer, evaluate, process, verify, award and deny federal, state and institutional financial aid. The advisor will determine financial aid applicants' need as prescribed under congressional need analysis and federal regulations for the purpose of awarding student loans and campus-based funds. They will counsel and confer with students with regard to student expense budgets and personal and family situations that may be related to financial need determination and financial aid opportunities in person or via the telephone or written correspondence.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Proficiency in computer applications and the aptitude to quickly learn new technology.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Initiative and creativity and the ability to function well in an environment that promotes both teamwork and independence.
Strong, well-developed organizational, written and oral communication skills.
Excellent customer services skills and the ability to work effectively with students, the public, the university community and external constituencies with a sensitivity to the needs of and an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Banner (or other higher education) student system.
A minimum of 3 years financial aid experience.
Ability to apply complex regulations to a variety of situations.
Prior knowledge of and experience working with bilingual and emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.
Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Special Information:
The office is located in Saratoga Springs, NY but remote work is available for this position.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule during peak periods.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Rank/Salary: SL3 / $57,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
