Position Summary
LinQuest is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.
You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.
The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force's Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force's acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. Responsibilities:
Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification
Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents
Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government team
Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.
Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehicles
Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification
Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree
4+ years' experience in systems engineering
1+ years' experience in Systems Safety engineering, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulations
Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers
Strong interpersonal skills to enable working and interfacing with diverse personnel and working in a dynamic team environment
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required for the position
Preferred Skills and Experience:
BS in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
MS degree
Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP)
Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence
Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T terminal programs
Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients
Experience and familiarity experience working on a government space systems program
Experience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract
Active Secret Clearance or higher
Compensation for California: Starting salary ranges from $85,000 to $125,000, depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
