Job Summary

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Defined duties are performed in neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations.
Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
Conducts the following tests:
Spirometry (Pre and Post Bronchodilator and Sitting/Standing/Supine)
Six-minute walk.
Sputum Induction
Pulmonary mechanics (e.g., MIP/MEP and Peak Cough Flow)
Esophageal pH/impedance probe
Assists Level II and III with other tests as needed
Additional Duties:
Administers aerosolized medication via Pentamidine Aerosol and Metered Dose Inhaler (with Spacer)
Performs positive airway pressure mask fitting and acclimation (CPAP and bi-level)
Performs airway clearance therapies and maneuvers
Assists with preparation Methacholine solutions for Methacholine Challenge procedures
Maintains and calibrates PFT/Spirometry equipment
Assist with orientation and training of respiratory therapy students
Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.
Provides education for patients/families and other members of the health care team
Interprets data and responds to optimize clinical objectives for patients
Responds to emergencies in service areas
Assist staff assistants with preparation of PFT reports on Breeze
All other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Completion of a COARC approved respiratory care program
Experience: No experience required
License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program

PALS - Pediatric Advanced Live Support
-and-
RCP - Respiratory Therapy License from the State of California
-and-
RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.
Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.
Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of mechanical ventilation, various respiratory therapy techniques, and anatomy, physiology and pathology related to the respiratory system required.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge by performing routine and complex procedures utilizing instrumentation and manual methods
Strong analytical and organizational abilities necessary to perform multiple diagnostic tasks.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities encompassed within the position. Must have the ability to adapt to changing pace within the department

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $124,612.80 to $141,221.60
