Northrop Grumman is seeking Engineering interns to join the Defense Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in San Diego, CA .
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Global Battle and Mission Readiness Division.
Roles and Responsibilities
-Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
-Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas.
Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in Production or Quality Assurance
Basic Qualifications
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must :
Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2025.
Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree (or list specific majors)
Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025.
Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
The pay ranges for this specific opportunity are as follows:
Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master's program): $20.25 - $37.25
Masters degrees : $29.25 - $46.25

Salary Range: $1 - $2
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
