SMX is seeking a System Administrator with a strong background in Windows System administration to join our team! This position will be located at a customer site in San Diego, California
The Systems Administrator provides technical support services in an enterprise network environment to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF), Special Communications Mission Solutions (SCMS) Division to support a subset of Tactical and Remote C5I Edge Systems (TARCES) projects including legacy, current and next generation telecommunication and related communications-electronics (C-E) systems requirements and the design, development, integration, test and evaluation, and fielding of those systems, subsystems, and components.
As a System Administrator on our team, you'll be responsible for providing inputs and technical recommendations to the government customers and integrated project team. You will provide support to field techs with troubleshooting and resolving trouble tickets from system users. You'll work with field techs and government customers to implement system improvements and optimizations to increase performance and reliability. You'll help clients overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management. Your knowledge will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. Your communication skills will come in handy as you turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning.
This position requires a DoD secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI, which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the various computer and network components
Perform software updates and patches on all components weekly or as required to meet cyber security requirements
Ensure system backups are performed and maintained on a monthly basis
Provide helpdesk type services to local and remote customers to ensure functionality, perform repairs as needed, document faults and findings, and coordinate equipment replacement if required
Perform system changes modifications to the system as requested by the assigned Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to ensure cyber security compliance
Maintain and update required documentation to meet RMF Step 6 Continuous Monitoring Requirements
Verify Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scan results and submit them on the Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) and Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) sites
Develop plans to mitigate any negative scan results and work with system administrators to implement Monitor Common Vulnerability and Exposures (CVE) and the various cyber directives to ensure compliance is maintained
Provide Monthly reports to Regional ISSM on system and package cyber posture
Coordinate with system Subject Matter Experts (SME) for advanced application troubleshooting
Work within a 24x7 team providing continual support and monitoring of computer systems by resolving or escalating problems that arise
Apply monthly maintenance on Windows OS devices to mitigate vulnerabilities
Ensure monitoring tools are on-line and providing necessary alerting to provide notification of events/incidents/problems
Ability to respond to incident notifications within 24 - 48 hours
Required Skills & Experience
Clearance Required: Secret or higher
Three (3) or more years of applicable work experience and a bachelor's degree or a qualifying substitution
Bachelor's degree can be substituted with associate degree plus four (4) years of applicable work experience, or no degree plus six (6) years of applicable work experience
Current Security+ or equivalent DoD8570/8140 IAT level-II certification to meet the Navy Cybersecurity Workforce requirements
Experience creating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Group Policy Objects
Experience creating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows Update Server with external update sources
Experience navigating networks to troubleshoot equipment connectivity problems
Experience working with other DoD organizations to coordinate connectivity and services required for functionality of the system
Knowledge of industry best practices for server, computer, and network administration Including but not limited to backups, security, and documentation
Ability to work independently in an Integrated Product Team alongside customers and partners
Must have strong communication sills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize taskings
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience collaborating using Microsoft 365 (Teams, Office, Outlook, and SharePoint)
Experience working with ISSE, ISSM, or ISSO's to accomplish ATO recertification
Experience with Cisco and Juniper network switches
Knowledge of IP based camera systems
Knowledge of LENEL security systems
Ability to work independently and in a team environment to troubleshoot technical issues
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, issues, and resolutions
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification or equivalent
CompTIA Server+ certification
VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) Certification or equivalent

The proposed salary for this position is:
$95,000-$142,400 USD
