The Leidos Innovations Center has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer to work in San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your experience to develop and produce advanced electronics for nuclear detection, radiography equipment, chemical and biological and other low SWaP applications. Emphasis of our work is on research and development of innovative low power, SWaP optimized hardware that provides solutions to challenging and unique problems. As a member of our engineering team, you would join and/or lead development efforts from early stages scientific research all the way to the transitioning of realized products into manufacturing.
Please note: This position is located in San Diego, CA. Opportunity to telework may be available depending on day to day requirements and may vary. Candidate must be able to be on-site.
Primary Responsibilities
Apply circuit design expertise to support the full PCB development and validation process.
Collaborate on large, complex projects as part of an intradisciplinary team of engineers and scientists.
Work independently to perform engineering related tasking where requirements can be uncertain and evolving.
Carry out methodical technical troubleshooting and diagnosis of failed equipment in support of root cause analysis.
Develop test plans, execute validation and testing procedures, perform data analysis and write technical reports.
Basic Qualifications
B.S. degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college/university with 4+ years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer in an R&D environment OR Master's with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Must be a U.S Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. (No clearance required to start)
Proficiency schematic capture, layout and documentation with Altium Designer (preferred) or similar CAD tool.
Experience with circuit design including microcontrollers, FPGAs, embedded systems and sensor integration.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics, specifications, checklists, and work instructions.
Experience working with cross-functional teams (mechanical engineers, software/firmware engineers, scientists, manufacturing and quality engineers).
Experience using DMM, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers to support lab testing.
Motivated self-starter able to work under minimal supervision with an entrepreneurial approach to their roles and responsibilities.
Well-organized, reliable individual, with attention to detail and who demonstrates personal initiative.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload and have good communication and intrapersonal skills.
