Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Sr. Traffic Modeler to join our team! In this role you will get to perform conventional and moderately to complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Conducts operational analysis using standard techniques and packages such as SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, VISSIM.
- Conducts strategic transport modelling analysis using standard techniques and packages such as VISUM, EMME.
- Proven experience in both micro and macro traffic modelling.
- Conducts traffic survey data collection and analysis.
- Develop and analyze mitigation measures for transportation impact and transportation master plan studies.
- Supports the preparation and review of traffic study reports.
- Carries out travel demand modeling using packages including VISUM and EMME.
- Works closely with related teams by providing data and technical support as needed.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Support the development of junior traffic engineers in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
- Capacity analysis of roadways/intersections to identify improvements.
- Support Design Management Team.
- Review the traffic models for their accuracy and conformance with the project requirements
- Collaborate with Civil / Infrastructure Engineers, Urban Planners and Landscape Architects.
- Traffic considerations such as active transport modes, ITS and public transport modes to be integrated into the project design.
- Attending design meetings to discuss the implications on traffic.
- Coordinating and cooperating with design engineers, safety specialists, and government departments.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations on traffic engineering.
- Preparation of documents meant for permits in implementing the plans regarding traffic management.
- Preparation of reports summarizing modeling findings
- Sharing expertise in the best practices/tools of traffic engineering.
- Conduct traffic impact studies and assessments to evaluate the effects of proposed developments on existing transportation systems.
- Prepare high-quality reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on small / medium/ large-scale transport planning / modelling projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations in traffic modelling practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical matters related to traffic modelling.
- Well aware of QA/QC procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Excellent report writing skills, preparation of presentations. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering from a recognized University. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 12+ years’ experience in traffic operations and analysis of various traffic projects. Including considerable experience in working with KSA projects.
- Must have in-depth experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operational Analysis.
- Must have thorough working knowledge with traffic analysis tools such as SYNCHRO, VISUM, VISSIM, HCS, EMME and other traffic engineering – modeling software.
- Highly desirable to have experience in Public Transport, Travel Demand Management, and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
- Professional Engineer registration may be required.
- Must have experience in parking management, parking demand and supply, parking design within buildings, traffic circulations, determining the number of accesses/egresses.
- Must have experience with Traffic Signing and Road Markings.
- Must have experience on working with traffic diversion plans as per KSA standards.
- A strong understanding of transport modelling, demand forecast and multi-modal methodologies.
