Sigma Defense is seeking a Naval Aviation Engineer to provide full-time operational guidance and expertise to our U.S. Navy clients at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Lexington Park (Patuxent River), Maryland.
The successful candidate will apply Systems Engineering discipline in the development of operating procedures, standardization of practices, and training regimens that are required to support the Navy's newest Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft, the P-8A Poseidon. This position will support Fleet Naval Aviation operations in large, "glass cockpit" aircraft, and experience in these areas are required. Particular focus will be placed on developing and maturing electronic flight manuals, navigation publications, and flight planning products for integration in Electronic Flight Bag.

Requirements
8+ years of experience in a relevant engineering position.
Military aviation experience.
Technical or operational experience with modern flight management systems.
Fleet Operational Naval Aviator experience is preferred.
737 pilot experience (Next Generation) preferred.
Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance experience preferred.
Squadron NATOPS/Stan Eval Officer (or higher) experience preferred.
Personnel Clearance Level:
Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance.
A clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Applied Science, or similar field of study.
Candidate Differentiators:
Experience as a Naval Aviator, P-8A Pilot, and/or NATOPS Officer is highly desired.
737NG experience and MPRA experience is preferred.
Concept development, requirements definition, design, integration, testing, and training of P-3C/P-8A systems and software.
Demonstrated experience in development, integration, testing, and training on avionics systems for the P-3C and P-8A for ASW/ASUW and reconnaissance missions, including P-3C and P-8A operational experience and P-8A integration, test, and training experience.
Demonstrated experience of ELINT and SIGINT hardware and software requirements analysis and testing to support development of hardware and software.
Experience working in MPRA laboratories, including P-3C AIP PHIC and the P-8A IL/SDL/MSIL and WSIL.
Experience operating the P-8A Mission Systems, Aircraft Systems MCDS, and TOM.
Essential Job Responsibilities (not all-inclusive):
Providing insight for the Systems Engineering of a Naval Aviation platform from the aviator perspective, guiding process development efforts and enhancing the operational capability of the weapons platform.
Providing interaction with external agencies (including OEM, engineering activities, test pilots, Fleet Introduction representatives, deployed squadrons and Program Manager).
Providing support to achieve the full operational capability of the P-8 Poseidon aircraft for our naval services.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000, annually.
