The Department of World Languages & Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in Russian literature and culture at any rank to begin in Fall 2025 (contract begins July 1).
We seek a dynamic scholar with an active research agenda and a high level of academic engagement in the field. The period and area of specialization are open. Candidates who could complement department strengths in memory studies, race and postcolonial studies, religious studies, and performance studies are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates whose expertise would allow them to build connections between the Department and interdisciplinary programs across campus, for example: Diplomacy, Medical Humanities, Environmental Humanities, and Asian Studies.
Teaching excellence and native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English are required. The teaching load is two courses per semester (2-2). The successful candidate will be able to teach survey courses in English covering Russian literatures and cultures, courses in the area of specialization, and Russian language courses depending on the needs of the program. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Russian literature, culture, media studies, or a related field in hand by time of appointment. Experience teaching at the college/university level in North America is preferred.
