The Department of English and Creative Writing in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in Creative Writing - Poetry and secondary expertise in American literature of either the African, Arab, Asian, or Latin American diaspora. The successful candidate will join the faculty of our internationally renowned M.F.A. Program in Creative Writing and contribute to the department's intellectual life by pursuing an active publishing agenda, teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, directing M.F.A. theses, serving on dissertation committees, and serving on departmental, college, and/or university committees. We seek candidates with diverse scholarly interests whose teaching and research interests intersect with the work of other faculty in our department and elsewhere in the College of Arts and Sciences. Minimum requirements include an M.F.A. or Ph.D. in Creative Writing, English literature, or a related field in hand by time of appointment; a strong and active publishing agenda; a record of excellence in college-level teaching; and a commitment to leadership and innovation in creative writing pedagogy. This scholar will be expected to complement existing initiatives at the University of Miami, including but not limited to those at the Center for Global Black Studies, the Cuban Heritage Collection in Richter Library, and our Center for the Humanities.
