This research and development (R&D) business, within BAE Systems Electronic Systems sector, collaborates with business areas across the company s global enterprise to develop and implement advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.
Sensor Technologies (ST), one of the FAST Labs Product Lines has established itself as a market leader in the development of Multimodal Sensing technologies. Within ST Product Line, the Multi-spectral Equipment (MSE) Technology Area imagines, designs and develops disruptive multi-modal sensing and response capabilities by fusing our advanced EO/IR and RF technologies via novel processing architectures. MSE is seeking senior level scientists to create the future vision of our integrated Multi-modal Sensing Strategy.
Senior principal scientists are personnel who 1) are interested in participating in the design, development, execution and implementation of research projects, 2) applying scientific principles and concepts to the development of prototype capabilities, 3) contributing to external publications and/or invention disclosures, 4) contributing to proposals and technical reports. This position reports directly to an MSE Technical Group Lead and will require virtual and in-person collaboration with customers and staff across BAE Systems ES facilities.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format , with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Active Secret DoD clearance with the ability to attain Top Secret/SCI clearance
Core competency in one or more technical fields in RF sensors, EO/IR sensors, digital signal processing, sensor modeling and simulation evaluating system performance measures.
Integration & test experience, with hardware/software systems, in both lab and field test environments.
Leads the design, development and execution of innovative scientific solutions to complex technical problems.
Supports the development of strategic roadmaps, plans and executes research of complex scope regularly involving multiple technical fields.
Experience as a principal investigator for medium (3-5 person) research efforts, coordinating technical program performance with leadership and functional engineering managers.
Supports external discussions with customers and subcontracting partners in order to support technical execution, risk and opportunity management.
Mentors less experienced staff on technical skillsets.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
Model-based systems engineering experience
Supervisory experience with small number of scientists
Participates in professional societies
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $126610 - $215270

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
