Summary You will serve as a Towed Array Engineering Technical Lead in the Surface and Aviation training, Logistics and fleet support Branch (Code 1555) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-12 and GS-13. Responsibilities You will perform a variety of tasks involving the research, design, and development of complex state-of-the-art electronic equipment and systems. You will receive project plans, schedules, and milestones from the SQQ-89 TPM and oversees the execution of deliverables in accordance with the identified timelines. You will aid in ensuring technical coordination across SQQ-89 SONAR related projects from multiple Program Offices, including commonality efforts between the cruiser and destroyer classes, to include frigates (FFG). You will work with a diverse team of government employees who work side-by-side with contractor personnel. You will resolve engineering issues found through ship delivery (in plant, in the shipyard, or at sea) by organizing and implementing thorough analysis assessments and testing. You will certify that all solutions are adequate, meet system performance requirements, and are delivered within ship construction milestones. You will assist the project leadership team in ensuring the verification and on-time delivery of all technical products to ensure completeness within project schedules and verifying that cybersecurity measures are within compliance. You will work across NUWC departments, Code 15 divisions, and product lines of all CRUDES sensors and acoustic systems projects to ensure adequate integration and 'end to end' system performance. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a Mechanical Engineer (0830-series), a Computer Engineer (0854-series), an Electronics Engineer (0855-series), a Mathematician (1520-series), or a Computer Scientist (1550-series) depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. The total course work in either A or B above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite. For the Computer Science 1550 Series: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
