Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai?i, Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), Office of Land and Ocean Conservation Futures (LOCF), located in the State of Hawai?i Department of Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), Native Ecosystems Protection and Management Section (NEPM), Legacy Land Conservation Program (LLCP), located in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Telework (from employees residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $4,833.33 - $5,416.66/Mon.
DUTIES: Conducts long-term futures planning for LLCP operations. Enhances LLCP data acquisition, management, analysis, and interpretation. Engages partners, constituents, decisionmakers, stakeholders, and expert knowledge in charting a course for future LLCP operations. Prepares an update to the Resource Land Acquisition Plan that presents the research results. Drives to project sites to assist with mapping properties and site monitoring. Strengthens internal and external LLCP relationships by identifying and assessing preferred technologies for maintaining various types of internal and external program communications. Increases revenues and spending authority for the Land Conservation Fund by analyzing the history of Land Conservation Fund revenue, spending authority, actual expenditures, and real property investments. Secures outside funding for continued LLCP research and planning efforts.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Two to four (2-4) years of full-time engagement with scientific, policy, planning, or administrative/financial aspects of land conservation, resource management, or related programs, or equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE
Interest and ability to learn federal, state and county land protection mechanisms, zoning and entitlements required. Interest and aptitude required.
ABILITIES and SKILLS
Strong capability required in GIS and data management or serious interest and ability to learn quickly. Collaboration skills required. Ability to simplify complex processes and translate them clearly to stakeholders required. Good writing skills required. Written and graphic communication skills important. Required to solve problems when they arise and take appropriate corrective actions. Advanced level of judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills required to perform moderate to complex assignments and projects on a regular basis. Works independently, yet also as part of a team. Must be able to organize time and job demands for timely completion of responsibilities, use discretion, and maintain confidentiality regarding pending conservation transactions, sensitive natural and cultural resources, legislative strategies, and other matters. Work must be in accordance with DLNR, the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) and OVPRI policies, management guidelines, and enabling legislation. Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.
Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS
