The Safety and Health SME responsibilities include :
Serve as a subject matter expert on Safety and Health requirements related to various types of clean energy projects, from Safety and Health program requirements to safety focus areas associated with clean energy technologies, including but not limited to solar, wind, carbon capture and sequestration, hydrogen, battery storage, and retrofits of existing industrial processes.
Provide technical review support of Safety and Health plan submittals.
Perform gap analysis on safety and health submittals and recommend revisions to help support approval of plans.
Identify mitigation options for identified safety risks.
Providing construction safety analysis on multiple construction sites.
Evaluate compliance with safety procedures in accordance with the approved project-specific safety plan.
Understanding of work plans, specifications, written documents and related Safety and Health requirements.
Preparing of oversight reports that document the safety of project work and other pertinent construction information; assisting in construction site safety reviews and issuing safety observations.
Identification of lessons learned.
Strong knowledge of OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 / 1926 standards
What you will need...
US Citizen
Bachelor's degree in construction management, safety, or occupational health and safety, or a related degree.
At least 10 years of on-site experience in project health and safety.
Strong commitment to safety, including implementing strict Health and Safety protocols.
Knowledge and application of OSHA CFR Parts 1910 General Industry Safety and Health, and 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.
OSHA 30-hour construction training.
OSHA 510 training.
Flexible and able to work in a variety of situations with the ability to resolve conflicts in a productive manner.
Experience in federal, commercial, and industrial construction environments
Fully functioning, seasoned/experienced professional with a full understanding of specialized area, plus working knowledge of other related fields
Ability to identify countermeasures to prevent safety related incidents and eliminate deviations from regulatory standards.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment
What would be nice to have...
EHS-related professional accreditations (CSP, CIH, CHSP or similar)
Active DOE security clearance (or the ability to obtain)
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, as-needed position. Hours will vary depending on project needs and contractor availability
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
