Compensation: $45-$55/hour depending upon experience.
Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT or IAM Level II or higher within 6 months of hire
Your Mission:
The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture and compliance is maintained for an information system. The position shall have the detailed knowledge and expertise required to manage the security aspects of an information system and is assigned responsibility for the day-to-day security operations of a system.
Level of Work: Approximately 15 hours each week.
Requirements:
- 5+ years related experience.
- Prior performance in roles such as System/Network Administrator, ISSE or ISSO.
- Skills and knowledge of COMSEC, TEMPEST, etc., are a plus.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field required (Master's preferred.)
Performance shall include:
- Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities.
- Conduct continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries under your preview.
- Provide support for implementing and enforcing information systems security policies, standards and methodologies.
- Develop, review, evaluate and verify self‐testing results to validate security control implementation, effectiveness and compliance.
- Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with implementation of countermeasures and mitigations.
- Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)
- Develop, update and maintain system authorization packages and required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all system lifecycle functions.
- Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the system authorization package.
- Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly.
- Assist in the evaluation of security solutions to ensure information system security requirements are addressed and met during all phases of information systems lifecycle.
- Prepare reports on the security posture, compliance and authorization status of information systems and security operations environment.
- Coordination with Leadership and the Security and Program teams, to achieve and maintain the information system compliance and Authorization to Operate (ATO).
- Serve as a member of the Change Control Board (CCB) to ensure configuration management for changes or modifications to hardware, software, and firmware is coordinated, maintained and documented.
