Position Overview
Provide Armed Security Guard services at the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey
Responsibilities
- Provide security protection and access control for all government property, classified material, and personnel within assigned areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, theft, or intentional destruction.
- Report/respond to unusual or emergency situations.
- Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiate the appropriate actions.
- Control ingress/egress into and/or out of posted/controlled/security areas.
- Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.
- Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all security and guard orders, written and oral, pertaining to the assigned duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship is required
- High School education or GED
- At least 21 years old
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
- Two (2) years’ prior work experience in armed security or equivalent in the military or law enforcement
- Effective oral and written communication ability
- NJ driver's license
- NJ State Armed Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) license
- NJ State Firearms Permit to Carry
- Physically fit and in good general health without any physical defects or abnormalities, able to perform guard duties and pass a physical abilities test
- Ability to handle office related material such as, computer equipment, printout paper, notebooks, ledgers, badge printer.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Homeland Security Suitability certification.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Duties require lifting more than 10 pounds, bending twisting, standing and some activities that
- involve standing for long periods of time, often without breaks
- Requires conducting foot patrols and response to alarms in varied weather conditions. 90% of the
- work will require some sort of physical activity
- frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such
- as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels.
- May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather
- Subject to high noise levels
- Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving
- mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to
- chemicals
- May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator
- May be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk up inclines and on uneven terrain
