Summary This position is part of the Associate Administrator for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Department of Energy. A successful candidate in this position will serve as Congressional Affairs Specialist, responsible for performing a variety of duties related to NNSA Congressional advocacy efforts, serving as liaison between NNSA nuclear security and nonproliferation programs and congressional stakeholders. Responsibilities As a Congressional Affairs Specialist, you will: Coordinate legislative activities for Congressional action, including hearings, and floor and conference consideration of legislation on which the NNSA has taken a position or interest. Provide programmatic analysis and advice to the Director of Congressional Affairs on the effectiveness of NNSA Congressional programs and activities, and other high priority program and policy issues of national significance and interest through the performance of the duties and responsibilities. Maintain an effective relationship with Congressional committee and personal office staff to ensure effective exchange of information is maintained with NNSA and the Department. Track and analyze legislative initiatives and coordinates with Congressional committees and personal offices on legislative matters regarding defense and national nuclear security oversight. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-2 or GS-12. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience conducting at least 2 of 3 the following: 1.Experience developing written materials to convey legislative matters related to national defense or national nuclear security oversight. 2.Experience working as a liaison with Congressional staff representing a Federal Agency on issues related to nuclear security or nonproliferation programs. 3.Experience working for a Member of Congress or Committee Staff in support of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) process or annual appropriations process or representing an agency or organization in support of the NDAA and appropriations process.
