Qualifications:
Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing necessary.
Flexibility, patience, and sensitivity to the needs of residents as necessary
Physical stamina for constant activity required.
Must have proof of Immunizations. Submit to TST at time of hire and annually.
Submit to annual flu or use of mask during the flu season.
Successful clearance of a Criminal History Background Check.
Job Summary: Responsible for developing and directing a wellness program for the leisure time and wellness of residents. Activities are to be categorized in the six dimensions of wellness: physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and vocational. Responsible for the orientation, training and supervision of Wellness Leaders and Volunteers.
Job Duties:
Assist the Wellness Manager in planning and carrying out the activities program.
Approach residents to plan individual recreational and social activities, report to Wellness Manager about response and cooperation of residents.
Ability to administer cognitive tests and other memory enhancement tests.
Inform residents of available neighborhood programs and events.
Assist in developing and maintaining good contact with community resources for the betterment of the wellness program.
Responsible for maintaining departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
Assist Wellness Manager in preparing reports as required.
Utilize assistance of volunteers with planned programs.
Perform light housekeeping tasks in the Wellness Room (cleaning refrigerator, sink, stove, tables) on a daily basis, and assist with maintaining the general attractive appearance of the activity areas.
Maintain bulletin board displays on each floor and in the Wellness Room area.
May be required to drive company vehicle for outside activity program. Initial employment and annual driving record checks may be conducted to ensure ability to drive. Violations of having a clean and valid New York State Drivers License, a requirement for this position, is subject to individual review and subject to disqualification to drive on behalf of the Company.
Transfer/secure residents into van for outside travel programs
Arrives to work on time, regularly, and works as scheduled, responsible for own transportation.
Utilizes timekeeping system.
Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.
Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.
Generates and develops ideas which improve the quality of care for residents or increase position productivity and satisfaction.
Performs all position duties according to safety rules and practices required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents, and visitors of this facility.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them.
Exhibits the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff and visitors.
Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned by management staff or Administrator.
Must be Available to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.
