Responsibilities You will provide technical guidance to MTP personnel, contractors, and vendors, for all matters related to ships mooring systems, deck configurations, crane operations and rigging. You will inspect mooring chain and lines, anchor chain and jewelry, lifting and rigging equipment for deficiencies. You will plan and execute ship tow evolutions, coordinate actions with tow vessel personnel, direct Del Monte deck evolutions. You will provide assistance as required with ship maintenance projects to include ship life extension projects, range improvements, tow system upgrade, and general ship repair. You will plan and carry our assignments by determining nature and condition of existing structures to develop necessary altercation, repair, or modification to support unique NSW training requirements. You will complete with specifications for recommended parts, designated capacity requirements, quantity, strength and project parameters sufficient to support construction. You will assist in modifying and making repairs to or replacing target materials at MTP ranges and set up prior to training events. You will design and prepare fabrication plans and drawings for major modifications, installation or repair of exist bulkheads, watertight doors, hatches, non-watertight doors, cargo hatches etc for Fort Story demolition training facility. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Demonstrating knowledge in maritime training sites, ship training evolutions and target training ships; structuring engineering methods related to shipboard, maritime tactics and/or live fire range procedures. Desired Skills: - In depth knowledge of NSW maritime tactics, techniques, procedures, equipment and tools to assure structural designs and specifications are compatible with training goals and objectives and to ensure structural integrity of unique demolition training facilities. - Knowledge of a wide range of structural engineering components and compartments, to support training activities at a shore-based training facility and a target training ship at sea. - Ability to prepare complete structural component/compartment drawings and specifications sufficient to support construction of modifications to demolition target training facilities. - In depth knowledge of NSW maritime live fire range procedures, regulations and instructions to provide design, maintenance and repair services before and during training exercises and to provide support during live fire training exercises.
