Description
The Senior Director Nursing, Acute Care and Emergency Services, provides strategic leadership for Swedish Edmonds Hospital nursing operations, ensuring efficient and effective care delivery while advancing a connected experience of care and clinical excellence for the patients served.
This role directs nursing business operations and all facets of clinical performance, including strategic operations, fiscal oversight, business plan implementation, and process improvement initiatives. The position leads and facilitates process strategy for clinical practice and operations for Nursing, with a focus on Acute Care and Emergency Services.
The Director consults on standards of care in alignment with system policies and strategic goals and is accountable for developing, implementing, and managing models of care that support Nursing's strategic direction.
This role collaborates closely with Medical Directors, CMO/CNO leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal service delivery, quality outcomes, and coordinated patient care across the region.
The Director is also accountable for overall leadership, direction, and management of Nursing services, including oversight of nurse managers and performance related to budget, quality outcomes, safety, patient experience, and caregiver engagement.
What You'll Do
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Develop and implement goals and objectives for Acute Care and Emergency Services in collaboration with Medical Directors, CMO/CNO leadership, and key stakeholders.
Establish and maintain an integrated process for strategic planning, ensuring plans evolve with changing patient needs and organizational priorities.
Lead the implementation and integration of Acute Care and/or Emergency Care services across the service area.
Financial & Resource Stewardship
Develop capital and operating budgets in collaboration with campus leadership and monitor financial performance.
Ensure budgetary goals are achieved and variances are appropriately analyzed and addressed.
Align financial management with strategic and operational priorities to ensure costeffective service delivery.
Clinical Practice Standards & Quality
Partner with Medical Directors, physicians, clinical education, and leadership teams to develop standardized protocols, policies, and procedures.
Ensure nursing practices align with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.
Promote a culture of excellence, safety, and highquality patient care across all sites.
Leadership Development & Workforce Engagement
Develop, mentor, and support nursing leaders to meet qualitative, quantitative, and missiondriven goals.
Build strong relationships with nurse leaders and guide teams in responding to trends and performance opportunities.
Promote caregiver engagement, professional growth, and leadership development across the region.
Regulatory & Readiness
Maintain services in a state of readiness for regulatory and accreditation inspections, including State of Washington, DNV, Joint Commission (JCAHO), and OSHA.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and system policies.
Collaboration & Service Delivery
Collaborate with Medical Directors and physicians to ensure timely, appropriate, and highquality clinical services.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to support coordinated, patientcentered care delivery.
Promote marketing strategies and growth initiatives for Acute and/or Emergency Services.
