Job Description: Large Equipment and Systems Operator/Maintenance for the NASA Glenn Research Center, Central Process Systems (CPS)
Position Title: CPS Operator / Electrician
Location: NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland Ohio
Company: Mainthia Technologies Inc.
Position Summary : Work involves both field operations ---such as pre-run/post-run inspections and hands-on maintenance. Console-based process control through the CPS Distributed Control System.
The CPS Operator/Electrician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Central Process Systems (CPS) that support critical aerospace research ground test facilities. These systems simulate real-world flight conditions such as high speed, high pressure, and high altitude. Operators are tasked with monitoring, controlling, troubleshooting, and maintaining highly complex mechanical, electrical, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring
Operate CPS subsystems including Combustion Air, Altitude Exhaust, Service Air, Refrigerated Air, Cooling Tower Water, Variable Frequency Power, and Central Air Distribution.
Monitor alarms, system parameters, and test facility demands; initiate corrective actions when required.
Conduct pre-run and post-run checks of CPS equipment, including compressors, pumps, motors, valves, and controls.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform scheduled and recurring preventive maintenance (PMs), functional checks, and minor repairs.
Troubleshoot alarms, anomalies, and failures within CPS equipment, instrumentation, and controls, from operator console to field device.
Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, sensors, controllers, transmitters, and electronic network hardware (computers, servers, routers, and switches).
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with research staff to configure CPS services for daily test operations.
Document shift activities, equipment conditions, and anomalies in detailed logs.
Participate in cross-training to ensure multi-disciplinary coverage across CPS operations.
Working Conditions
Work is physically demanding operators stand for extended periods, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined or awkward positions. Work in confined spaces and elevated spaces -- use of scaffolding, ladders, and aerial lifts
Tasks may involve dusty, hot, wet, or noisy environments (exceeding 85 dB) with no air conditioning in summer.
Risk of injury from electrical shock, rotating machinery, falls, and cuts; strict adherence to safety procedures is required.
Operators must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and perform pushing, pulling, shoveling, and sweeping as required.
