Job Description
The Chemistry Analyst will work in an environmental testing laboratory supporting the semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC) team. This role focuses on high-volume environmental sample testing, with responsibility for the full lifecycle of sample analysis from preparation through data review. The position is well suited for a motivated analyst who enjoys hands-on work with analytical instrumentation and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Perform high-volume environmental sample analysis in support of SVOC testing.
Conduct sample preparation, extraction, and analysis for semi-volatile organic compounds.
Operate, monitor, and maintain gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation.
Process, interpret, and review analytical data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
Perform routine instrument maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Follow and uphold laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Collaborate closely with team members to support workflow, meet turnaround times, and improve overall laboratory efficiency.
Document all analytical activities and results clearly and accurately in accordance with laboratory documentation practices.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, with Chemistry preferred.
At least 3 years of experience in an environmental laboratory setting.
Hands-on experience with SVOC analytical workflows, including sample preparation and extraction.
Proficiency in operating GC and GC-MS instrumentation for environmental testing.
Ability to manage and process high sample volumes while maintaining data quality.
Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and QA/QC standards.
Solid troubleshooting skills for routine instrument and method-related issues.
Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate within a laboratory team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree with a focus in Chemistry or a closely related field.
Experience working within structured QA/QC programs and regulatory frameworks for environmental testing.
Familiarity with semi-volatile compound methods and associated regulatory guidelines.
Comfort with high-throughput laboratory operations and continuous process improvement.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet strict turnaround times.

This position is based in an environmental testing laboratory that supports high-volume SVOC analysis. The work environment is fast paced and team oriented, with frequent use of advanced analytical technologies such as gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The role is hands-on and laboratory based, involving routine interaction with analytical instruments, sample preparation equipment, and standard laboratory tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
