Position Summary:
The EMS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This position involves maintaining supplies, ensuring quality control of EMS services, managing equipment and vehicles, training new personnel, evaluating medical care provided to patients, and creating and managing shift schedules. The EMS Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective emergency medical response. This position will additionally oversee and coordinate emergency preparedness policies and exercises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supply Management
Order and maintain supplies to support the optimal functioning of EMS services.
Ensure quality control measures are in place to meet industry standards and regulations.
Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance
Maintain vehicles, equipment, tools, supplies, and protective clothing in a serviceable, ready-to-use condition.
Regularly inspect and organize equipment to ensure its availability and functionality for emergency situations.
Monthly inspections of equipment and vehicle.
Personnel Training
Train and onboard new hires to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective emergency medical care.
Develop and implement training programs that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Annual re-certifications of required skills; maintain and review training of all personnel.
Medical Care Evaluation
Evaluate direct and indirect medical care provided to patients during emergent situations.
Follow the directions for the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Medical Director in assessing the quality of care and identifying areas of improvement.
Shift Schedule Management
Create and maintain shift schedules for EMS personnel, ensuring adequate coverage for 24/7 operations.
Address scheduling conflicts and adjust schedules as needed to ensure seamless service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid RN or Paramedic license.
Relevant experience in the field of Emergency Medical Services.
Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, regulations, and industry standards.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to train and mentor new personnel effectively.
Sound judgement and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
Proficiency in maintaining inventory and supply management.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and emergency situations.
CPR and First Aid certification (desired).
Valid driver's license (required).
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to meet the needs of the organization and its emergency medical services.
