Your Impact:
The Sr. Analyst, Merchandising Operations (PEA Optimization) role operates within Merchandising Operations, supporting the Pro Extended Aisle (PEA) business through advanced analytics, consulting, and performance optimization across vendors, categories, and items.
This role focuses on identifying opportunities, addressing complex business challenges, and partnering cross-functionally to improve Close Rate, Sales, and the overall Pro customer experience. With a data-first mindset, this role helps drive scalable and repeatable performance by improving both PEA performance as well as the way in which it operates.
This includes enabling better decision-making, reducing rework, and exposing opportunities earlier across the organization. Responsibilities span cross-functional areas including pricing, assortment, fulfillment, and systems, with a focus on identifying and driving performance improvements across the Pro Extended Aisle business.
What You Will Do
Gather, analyze, and maintain data to support reporting, business insights, and decision-making
Develop and manage core datasets, ensuring data accuracy, quality, and usability across systems
Conduct advanced data analysis, interpretation, and storytelling to identify performance trends, gaps, and opportunities
Utilize cloud-based data tables, Excel, and programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R to analyze data and generate insights
Use analytics, customer feedback, and business input to drive continuous improvement initiatives
Identify root causes of issues and partner with stakeholders to drive resolution
Investigate and address complex business challenges beyond day-to-day operations
Translate data into actionable recommendations that improve Close Rate, Sales, and customer experience
Identify opportunities to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and performance outcomes
Design and support scalable, data-driven solutions aligned to business needs
Build strong relationships and collaborate with Merchandising, Pricing, Supply Chain, Field teams, and other stakeholders
Establish and maintain trust and credibility with leaders, partners, and team members
Act as a trusted advisor by providing data-backed recommendations and aligning on business priorities
Manage individual projects and workstreams, including timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder alignment
Partner with merchants and vendors on complex or strategic opportunities, including resolution of operational and performance-related issues
Ensure vendor and item-level considerations are addressed to support business performance - Create usage standards, guidelines, and documentation to support data governance and business integration
Serve as a subject matter expert for merchandising systems, data integration, and tools
Support testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization of technology solutions
Ensure systems support efficiency, scalability, and business continuity
Develop and deliver training materials, documentation, and best practices
Communicate insights, challenges, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
4+ years of relevant experience in analytics, business operations, or data-driven roles
Advanced analytical skills, including experience working with large datasets and translating data into actionable business insights
Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to identify root causes and develop data-driven recommendations
Experience working in ambiguous environments and independently structuring and solving loosely defined problems
Understanding of key business performance metrics (e.g., sales, margin, conversion) and how to apply them to drive decisions
Experience working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Experience using programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R for data analysis
Experience using business intelligence software (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA, Master's in Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field)
Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R, including building scalable analyses or complex data transformations
Experience in the home improvement industry and/or working with professional (Pro) customers or Pro-focused business models

Associates are required to relocate to the Charlotte/Mooresville, NC region to foster collaboration and support.
The ideal candidate must be willing to work in the office at our Mooresville, NC, location, 5 days per week.
Most business meetings are planned around the Eastern time zone
