Active Duty Soldiers are full-time service members responsible for carrying out the Army's mission to defend the United States and its interests.
They work in a variety of Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) ranging from combat roles and engineering to medicine and administration, maintaining constant readiness for global deployment and humanitarian support.

Duties vary significantly based on whether a Soldier is Enlisted or a Commissioned Officer, as well as their specific MOS.
Category Typical Duties
Mission Execution Conduct tactical operations, security patrols, and specialized technical tasks (e.g., cyber warfare, intelligence analysis, or mechanical repair).
Maintenance and Readiness Service and repair equipment (tanks, aircraft, weaponry) and participate in continuous physical and tactical training.
Leadership (Officers/NCOs) Plan missions, manage personnel and resources, and provide mentorship and disciplinary guidance to subordinates.
Humanitarian Support Assist in disaster relief, medical support, and community stabilization both domestically and overseas.
Professional Development Maintain proficiency in core Army values and specialized job skills through ongoing education and field exercises.
