Description
SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to join our team in support of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) contract for U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC) G-6. The on-site position is located at Fort Bragg, NC. The ideal candidate will possess experience in technical writing and editing within a military (preferably U.S. Army) or government environment, with a demonstrated/thorough understanding of communications and information technology support services. This position involves creating, editing, and managing a variety of technical and non-technical documents and communications to support the G-6's mission of providing critical information technology and communications support to the U.S. Army Reserve. The selected candidate will ensure documentation is clear, concise, and consistent.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare or edit administrative documentation including correspondence, information papers, executive summaries, and meeting minutes.
• Review and update operations orders, strategic communications, and technical/management capability documents, briefing presentations, graphs, and diagrams.
• Revise and edit technical process documentation (including standard operating procedures and tactics, techniques, and procedures) that provides in-depth information about the purpose and procedures for IT support services.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs)/authors to manage documentation projects from review and revision to publication.
• Work closely with SMEs/authors to gather necessary information and ensure document content is accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of current procedures, technologies, and best practices.
• Ensure documents address intended audience in a clear, concise, and consistent manner and comply with prescribed standards and deliverable schedule.
• Perform QA check for style and format consistency and grammatical, capitalization, spelling, and punctuation errors.
• Validate sources referenced within the document.
• Create and maintain documents, templates, spreadsheets, briefing presentations, and graphics using document creation tools.
• Submit finalized documents into internal USARC G-6 routing, tracking, or presentation systems.
• Track routing, signature approval process, and workflow of assigned documents to assist the government in ensuring documents meet project schedule timelines.
• Store and manage all final USARC G-6 documents and writing/editing resources on government collaborative content management system that facilitates easy search and retrieval of files and information.
• Manage multiple writing and editing projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to established specifications and deadlines.
• Conduct peer review of documents prepared by other technical writers/editors and recommend revisions.
• Provide guidance and training to other team members on best practices in technical writing and editing.
• Assist contract program managers in preparing and reviewing monthly status reports and quarterly progress reports.
Qualifications
Required Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field with 0-3 years of technical writing and editing experience, preferably within a military (preferably U.S. Army) or government environment.
• Interim Secret and able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
• Excellent writing skills and strong command of the English language.
• Excellent English verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with other organizations and personnel with diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team by regularly interfacing with a wide range of military and civilian personnel.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in document creation using Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or other content management systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of military writing standards (e.g., Army Regulation 25 50) and style guides (e.g., The Chicago Manual of Style, The Associated Press Stylebook).
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Technical writing experience relative to information technology, engineering, and/or business systems environments.
• Experience with DoD Cyber Operational Readiness Assessment or Cyber Command Readiness Inspection.
• Experience with Government Printing Office Style Manual.
