The Assistant Vice President, Sr. Data Analyst is a seasoned professional role within the Prime Services Data Analytics team. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise and strong analytical capabilities to bridge the gap between business requirements and data solutions. The role applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new business intelligence dashboards for senior management and distributing data to broader Prime Service teams.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and Quantitative Analysts to source, analyze, and manage data from various teams within Citi. This is a hands-on technical role requiring proficiency in SQL and Python, combined with excellent analytical skills to translate business requirements into actionable data solutions. Key responsibilities include generating data schemas, creating data quality rules, managing schema deployment, and ensuring robust data governance and metadata management.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management & Governance
Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and Quantitative Analysts (Quants) to source data from various teams within Citi
Analyze data per business requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications
Generate and design robust data schemas to support analytical and operational needs
Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive data quality rules and validation frameworks
Manage and deploy data schemas across various platforms and environments
Take ownership of data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with enterprise data standards
Maintain and manage metadata repositories, ensuring comprehensive documentation of data lineage, definitions, and business context
Utilize JIRA for project tracking, issue management, and agile workflow management
Leverage Confluence for documentation, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional collaboration
Business Partnership & Solution Design
Consult with business clients to identify system functional specifications and apply comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business goals
Consult with users and clients to solve complex system issues/problems through in-depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards; recommend solutions
Lead system change processes from requirements through implementation; provide user and operational support of applications to business users
Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for complex projects through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry standards
Consider the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment; identify and communicate risks and impacts
Required Qualifications:
Experience
5+ years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or related fields, preferably within financial services or banking
Demonstrated experience in data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
Experience working with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, technology teams, and quantitative analysts
Technical Skills
Proficient in SQL : Advanced querying, optimization, and database management
Proficient in Python : Data manipulation (pandas, numpy), analysis, automation, and scripting
Advanced Excel : Complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, data modeling, and advanced analytics
JIRA : Project management, issue tracking, and agile methodologies
Confluence : Documentation, knowledge management, and collaboration
Experience with data schema design and implementation
Understanding of data quality frameworks and validation techniques
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive and problem-solving techniques
Strong capability to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources
Proven ability to evaluate moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact
Communication & Leadership
Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Strong diplomacy skills required to exchange complex information across diverse audiences
Proven ability to assume leadership roles and mentor junior team members
Experience coaching and training new recruits
Education
Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
