Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Analyst to support a customer-facing project through remote delivery. The Database Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, designing, maintaining, and optimizing database solutions to ensure data integrity, performance, and availability. This role will work closely with customer stakeholders, application teams, and data consumers to support business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into efficient database designs
Design, develop, and maintain relational and/or NoSQL databases to support customer applications
Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data validation to ensure accuracy and consistency
Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and capacity planning
Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
Monitor database health, availability, and performance; proactively identify and resolve issues
Support data migration, data integration, and data transformation activities
Ensure data security, compliance, and access control in line with customer and regulatory standards
Collaborate with application developers, architects, and business analysts across distributed teams
Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, and operational runbooks
Provide production support, root cause analysis, and issue resolution as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
4+ years of experience as a Database Analyst or in a similar data-focused role
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Experience in data analysis, data modeling, and database design
Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques
Experience working in remote or distributed team environments
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customer teams
Nice to Have / Preferred Skills
Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL, etc.)
Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, etc.)
Experience with ETL tools, data integration platforms, or data pipelines
Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and compliance frameworks
Prior experience working on customer-facing or managed service projects
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery models

Role will be performed fully remote , with regular interaction with customer stakeholders
Flexibility to support customer time zones and attend virtual meetings as required
Strong emphasis on ownership, accountability, and quality delivery

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $128,000 - $150,000 + Bonus depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
