Job Description
The Regional Media Analyst supports USCENTCOM Public Affairs Directorate (CCPA) by providing multilingual media monitoring, translation, and analysis of regional information environments across the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). This role delivers timely, culturally informed insights on foreign media, public sentiment, and emerging trends to support strategic communication and senior leader decision-making. Analysts apply regional expertise and language proficiency to assess political, military, economic, and social dynamics, ensuring accurate interpretation of media narratives and their potential impact on CENTCOM operations.
Requirements
Multilingual Media Monitoring & Analysis
Monitor foreign-language media sources (print, broadcast, online, and social media)
Analyze regional news, narratives, and trends impacting CENTCOM operations
Identify shifts in public sentiment, key influencers, and emerging issues
Translation & Cultural Interpretation
Translate and interpret foreign-language media content into English
Provide cultural and contextual analysis to ensure accurate understanding
Support communication strategies with culturally informed recommendations
Reporting & Intelligence Support
Develop reports and summaries on regional developments and media trends
Provide real-time updates and analysis to support leadership awareness
Deliver actionable insights to inform strategic communication decisions
Strategic Communication Support
Advise on messaging strategies based on regional media and audience dynamics
Support foreign-language social media content and engagement efforts
Recommend outreach approaches based on cultural and regional considerations
Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with media analysts, planners, and leadership
Support coordination with interagency, coalition, and partner organizations
Assist in aligning regional insights with broader CENTCOM communication efforts
Crisis & Operational Support
Provide surge support during crises or high-tempo operations
Deliver rapid analysis and updates during emerging events
Support travel and on-site operations within the CENTCOM AOR as required
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in media analysis, regional studies, or related field
Demonstrated experience monitoring and analyzing foreign media sources
Language proficiency at ILR 3/3/3 (or equivalent) in one or more relevant languages (e.g., Arabic, Farsi, Turkish, Russian, Hebrew, Pashto)
Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting government or military public affairs or intelligence efforts
Knowledge of CENTCOM AOR regional dynamics and geopolitical issues
Experience with media monitoring tools and data analysis platforms
Established familiarity with regional media outlets and influencers
Security Clearance Requirement
Minimum DoD SECRET security clearance
Work Requirements
Ability to support high-tempo operations and crisis response efforts
Availability for surge support outside normal working hours
Willingness to travel within the CENTCOM AOR as required
Ability to operate in a mission-driven, multicultural environment
