I.T. Administrator III "WTRS" - Orlando, Florida
The IT Administrator III will provide guidance and direction to a global team of system administrators supporting the US Army Combat Training Centers in the US, Hawaii and Europe responsible for maintaining, configuring, and securing networks and systems, ensuring reliable and efficient communication across platforms to enable an effective training environment for the US forces and allies conducting training at each site.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 10+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience in performing system administration duties
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
A CompTIA Security + certificate and a Computing Environment certification in the requisite operating system to include: RHCSA, VCP, Microsoft Role Base Certification like Windows Server Hybrid Administrator.
Experience coordinating and guiding a team of system administrators, providing tasking, and expert guidance to local and remote teams.
Provide Complex Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis.
Independently be able to:
Able to select, source, and install new hardware and software in support of ongoing operations.
Architect, deploy, and manage a comprehensive hybrid IT infrastructure that spans both physical and virtualized environments, with a focus on Linux/Unix and Windows server platforms.
Implement advanced automation using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Leverage configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to optimize system performance and streamline operations.
Administer and fine-tune network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) to maintain optimal connectivity.
Configure secure remote access to safeguard systems against unauthorized access.
Oversee virtualization technologies to support scalable operations.
Implement container orchestration solutions where applicable to facilitate effective deployment.
Design and maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and system monitoring solutions to ensure business continuity and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with Security Operation Center (SOC) analysts and security teams to improve incident response procedures.
Implement secure access policies.
Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, STIGs, SCG and relevant NIST controls
Enforce cybersecurity policies
Experience in Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or another enterprise-grade networking equipment
Utilize scanning protocols/tools to include Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), STIG Viewer, and Evaluate-STIG and perform proper remediation of vulnerabilities
Desired Skills:
Strong proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Experience implementing and maintaining disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Engineering
Experience developing security architectures that integrate continuous monitoring via SIEM systems, automated threat detection, and sophisticated access control mechanisms.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
