Security Officer Chenega / NASA (Edwards AFB, California)
Join Chenega in supporting NASAs mission as an Armed Security Officer. In this role, youll serve as a first responder and enforce federal and assimilated state laws while protecting NASA personnel, facilities, and critical assets. Security Officers conduct mobile patrols, inspections, traffic enforcement, access control, andwhen requiredexercise NASA Federal arrest authority. This position plays a vital part in safeguarding NASAs operations, equipment, and property. Officers are armed and trained to carry a sidearm, shotgun, or other authorized weapons as needed.
Responsibilities
Maintain safety and compliance by following all personnel, safety, and security policies, including NASA regulations and standard operating procedures.
Perform armed security functions , including access control, traffic control, patrols, inspections, and the lawful use of force up to and including deadly force.
Execute post responsibilities by participating in Guard Mount, receiving post assignments, following general and special orders, and communicating effectively via radio, phone, and in person.
Conduct security checks and inspections , including personnel, vehicle, building, facility, package, and parcel screenings.
Engage professionally with the public and government personnel , providing escorts as required and maintaining a clean, service-ready uniform and equipment.

Qualifications
Education, age, and eligibility: High School Diploma/GED, minimum age 21, U.S. work eligibility, valid drivers license, and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Experience and background: Preferred military or law enforcement experience (or armed security/NASA SPO), honorable discharge if applicable, and a clean criminal and drug history.
Training and certifications: Completion of NASA Basic Training Standard (NBTS), required ICS/NIMS courses (ICS100, ICS200, IS700, ICS300 within 180 days), First Aid/CPR or BLS certification, and CLETS qualification.
Physical and weapons requirements: Ability to pass and maintain NASA physical certifications, MMPI2/Shipley psychological exams, the Initial Physical Agility Test (IPAT), and ongoing weapons qualification.
Communication and professionalism: Strong English communication skills and the ability to follow detailed written instructions, orders, and training materials.
