Overview
The Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst II plays a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive company performance. This role goes beyond descriptive reporting to proactively identify trends, uncover root causes, and deliver predictive and prescriptive analytics that influence strategic, operational, and financial decisions. The analyst partners closely with business leaders, Operations, Sales, IT, and Product teams to anticipate business needs, quantify opportunities and risks, and recommend data-driven actions that improve outcomes across the organization.
Responsibilities
Insight Generation & Decision Support (30%)
Deliver insight-driven analysis that explains business performance drivers, identifies risks and opportunities, and quantifies business impact.
Translate complex data into clear narratives and recommendations tailored to executive and senior leader audiences.
Proactively surface insights and hypotheses rather than responding only to ad-hoc requests.
Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics (20%)
Develop and apply predictive models, trend analysis, and forecasting techniques to anticipate future performance (e.g., volume, cost, profitability, service levels).
Perform scenario modeling and what-if analysis to evaluate potential strategies, trade-offs, and operational decisions.
Recommend prescriptive actions that optimize outcomes, supported by data-backed evidence.
Performance Measurement & Visualization (25%)
Design and maintain performance dashboards and visual analytics that highlight key drivers, leading indicators, and early warning signals-not just historical results.
Define and refine KPIs to align with strategic objectives and continuously improve performance visibility.
Ensure insights are embedded into workflows to support timely, informed decision-making.
Business Partnership & Requirements Leadership (15%)
Act as a strategic analytics partner to Operations, Sales, and other business units by deeply understanding their goals, challenges, and decision points.
Lead analytical problem framing by clarifying business questions, defining success metrics, and aligning data solutions to outcomes.
Influence stakeholders by recommending data-driven approaches to improve processes, policies, and performance.
Data Quality, Governance & Enablement (10%)
Ensure high data quality, consistency, and trust by identifying root causes of data issues and partnering on remediation.
Apply sound judgment around data security, accuracy, and efficiency, supporting audits and continuous improvement of data practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree - Required
2 years of experience in Business or Financial Analyst.
SQL, VBA, Access, PowerBI and/or Business Objects experience.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $65,590 - $103,070 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
