JOB DESCRIPTION
Basic Purpose
Detects and monitors hazard risks across the company's service area and alert functional areas and internal partners to respond to any emerging threats to our communities, customers, coworkers and company infrastructure. Performs real-time detection and monitoring of conditions by leveraging information from on-the-ground field teams, NV Energy meteorology and incident tracking and reporting tools, live video and audio feeds, as well as databases, emergency alert systems and social media from NV Energy, the National Weather Service, local public safety authorities and other agencies and systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs NDP internal and external communications. Monitors all fire radio communications and maintains phone and radio logs. Gathers data to perform briefings and provide information to management.
Executes fire prediction analysis. Collaborates with internal teams to validate hazards and risks. Inputs safety hazard data into fire-related computer applications. Tracks resource requests for emergency incidents.
Receives fire and other incident (floods, earthquakes, etc.) reports, determines location, land status and current fire information to advise NDPP management and leadership and dispatch wildfire mitigation and emergency management personnel. personnel and equipment. Monitors for, detects and documents any occurrence of pre-identified hazards or threats to company, public safety and NV Energy assets and property.
Processes and interprets weather information. Maintains resource status and tracking systems. Provides situational awareness to NDP leadership and other functional areas and internal partners. Provides NDP situational updates during group meetings and calls.
Trains and mentors new dispatch analysts.
Executes special projects and/or initiatives.
Responsible for working in a 24x7 watch center environment that includes shift work.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
High school diploma and 4 years of public safety work experience such as law enforcement, fire and/or emergency medical services.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
GIS experience
Wildfire behavior
Utility experience, preferably in electric, gas, or generation operations
Experience working in a public safety agency
Utility procedures and operations
Fast-paced operating/control center environment
Demonstrated skills such as:
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate
Ability to handle emergency response situations and to wort< in a stressful environment
Ability to work independently with little day-to-day guidance
Clear and precise communication skills via various methods and to different audiences
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required.
