Job Description:Head of Data Engineering positions offered by SummitTX Capital, L.P. (New York, NY). Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native data infrastructure using tools such as Databricks, DBT, Airflow, and AWS Own and evolve the firms centralized data platform, including security master, position and transaction data, and point-in-time historical datasets. Collaborate closely with the Head of Development, CTO, and engineering teams to define clean service boundaries and enable downstream applications Partner with PMs, Analysts, Risk, and Operations teams to onboard new datasets, define business logic, and deliver analytics-ready data pipelines. Design and implement robust CI/CD workflows, testing practices, and metadata validation across the entire data lifecycle. Lead development of tools and services for automated data quality checks, reconciliation workflows, and data observability. Manage integration of alternative data sources, including vendor-delivered files, APIs, and structured/unstructured datasets. Drive innovation through use of AI/LLM-based tooling for data discovery, search, and cataloging (e.g., OpenAI, RAG, prompt tuning). Minimum Requirements:Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Business Intelligence and Analytics, or a related field. Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: Designing and building scalable cloud-based data platforms in a financial services or investment management environment; Developing with modern data architectures, including Snowflake or Databricks, or equivalent cloud-native solutions; Programming with data orchestration tools, Python, and SQL; Delivering enterprise data platforms supporting front-office, risk, and operational functions; Applying data governance principles, managing metadata, and performing point-in-time data modeling; Working cross-functionally with engineering, investment, and operations teams to deliver analytics-ready data infrastructure; Developing with cloud-native data warehouses or compute engines, including AWS; Implementing data versioning, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing for data pipelines; Designing and implementing data engineering patterns including batch, streaming, and snapshot-based pipelines; Utilizing data quality and observability tools, as well as scalable data validation strategies; and Utilizing AI/LLM-driven data discovery, cataloging, and search. In lieu of a bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 5 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a masters or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated.
