Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a WSTF Groundwater Modeler & Statistical Analyst (3751).
This is a short-term remote position with possible travel to the site.
Navarro Research & Engineering is an award-winning federal contractor dedicated to partnering with clients to advance clean energy and deliver effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental fields. Joining Navarro means being a part of an exceptional team committed to quality and safety while also looking for innovative strategies to create value for the client's success. Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.
The candidate will be part of a holistic assessment of the NASA White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) groundwater monitoring program. Responsibilities include identifying redundancies or gaps in monitoring well coverage, highlighting areas with elevated contaminant concentrations requiring more aggressive remedial action, and determining sampling schedules that balance data needs with budget constraints in support of the WSTF environmental restoration program. Activities include defining and documenting the existing monitoring program, evaluating historical data, determining appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative evaluation approaches, applying industry-standard optimization tools, developing recommendations for optimal monitoring well distribution and sampling frequency, and preparing final assessment deliverables.
Role Summary:
Responsible for quantitative analysis supporting monitoring network optimization and plume stability evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct statistical analyses including Mann-Kendall trends, time-series analysis, PCA, and geostatistics (variography/kriging).
Apply groundwater flow and transport models (e.g., MODFLOW).
Evaluate plume behavior, aquifer sustainability, and monitoring efficiency.
Support development of optimized sampling schedules and well networks.
Requirements
Degree in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.
Proficiency in groundwater modeling and statistical evaluation tools.
Experience supporting regulatory decisions with quantitative analysis.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
