10+ years of hands-on manufacturing, tooling or related experience.
Proven track record working with large structure manufacture and integration.
Familiarity with NASA and related standards.
Experience working with flight-certified manufacturing processes and QA documentation.
Technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with launch vehicle integration and environmental qualification testing.
Knowledge of space station interface requirements (ISS, CLD platforms).
Experience with lunar or planetary surface structure design considerations.
Experience with soft goods manufacturing
Patent or IP contributions in soft goods technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development
Develop and document manufacturing processes for large expandable habitat structures, including soft goods (restraint layers, bladders, MMOD/TPS) and metallic structures (interface rings, frames, hardpoints).
Translate engineering designs into repeatable, certifiable build processes suitable for human spaceflight.
Define manufacturing flows from material receipt through final assembly, test, and delivery.
Tooling and Infrastructure
Design and procure specialized tooling, fixtures, molds, mandrels, and handling equipment for full-scale expandable habitat fabrication.
Develop tooling and facilities to support deployment, inflation, pressurization, and structural testing.
Support cleanroom and controlled-environment manufacturing requirements.
Integration and Assembly
Lead integration of soft goods and hard structures, ensuring correct load paths, alignment, and interface integrity.
Support installation of embedded systems and penetrations (ECLSS interfaces, sensors, wiring, ports).
Coordinate multi-step assemblies involving stitching, bonding, welding, and mechanical fastening.
Testing and Qualification Support
Develop and support manufacturing-related test plans, including proof pressure tests, deployment tests, and structural validation.
Support qualification and acceptance testing activities and ensure manufacturability of test articles.
Assist in defining reuse, refurbishment, and life-cycle manufacturing strategies.
