Wells Fargo is seeking a Cyber Security Research Engineer to join our Internal Cyber Operations team within the Cyber Threat Fusion Center, a dynamic and growing group dedicated to building a best-in-the-industry cyber insider threat program. This specialized role offers an opportunity for a skilled contributor to step into the exciting field of cybersecurity, focusing on data-driven research, reporting and process improvement to enhance our team's performance and impact in reducing risk to the organization.
In this role, you will:
Conduct cybersecurity research to develop & deliver metrics that evaluate and enhance team performance.
Query various data repositories to extract relevant data quickly and accurately as well as correlate that data to produce actionable insights.
Develop comprehensive reports using data from multiple sources, tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Create effective dashboards and presentations that align with Wells Fargo's iconic branding to be consumed by broad audiences including senior leaders.
Collaborate with team members and internal business, risk and technology partner teams in facilitating and championing cutting edge cyber capability to proactively identify insider threats.
Participate in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of medium to complex computer network security and protection technologies
Act as professional ethical penetration tester utilizing hacking tools to modify or create proof of concept exploits that mimic techniques of attackers to identify vulnerabilities and associate with a severity rating by deriving impact and ease of exploit
Review and analyze security vulnerabilities for the company's networks, application systems, hardware infrastructure and emerging technologies to improve the enterprise information security posture
Perform basic computer security incident response activities and technical investigations of information security related incidents
Perform tests on networking devices, appliance products and web based application
Present recommendations to the line of business on the inherent risks, providing meaningful mitigation strategies
Provide guidance and leadership to more experienced Information Security Engineers and act as a mentor for theses engineers interested in penetration testing and offensive security
Perform security risk assessments to ensure compliance with corporate information security policies and adherence to best practices
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Interact with internal customers
Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of data analytics and reporting experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military or education.
2+ years of Cyber Security Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications:
1+ years of cybersecurity experience, with a focus on research, metrics and process improvement.
Fully proficient in the Microsoft Office product suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with big data / visualization platforms such as Splunk or Tableau.
Exposure to data query languages such as SQL and Lucene.
Exposure to advanced statistical analysis via tools such as Splunk, Python or SPSS.
B.S. / M.S. degree in business studies, mathematics or data analytics strongly preferred.
