Supervises and directs nursing unit activities to ensure quality patient care and efficient nursing unit operations. Enforces standards related to the provisions of care to reflect the special needs based on age of each patient. Serves as a unit leader for quality patient outcomes and patient satisfaction goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assumes 24hr accountability for assigned unit activities; follows policy and procedure in compliance with all organizational, legal, ethical and state regulatory requirements
Coordinates the delivery of high quality patient care; conducts unit and employee rounding per organizational expectations and frequency
Conducts unit staff meetings monthly and PRN to achieve unit goals
Utilizes available technological tools/reports to optimize staffing patterns and anticipate unit staffing demands
Screen/Interview qualified candidates for unit positions; initiates peer group interviews
Monitors new employee orientation; maintains employee unit competency files; participates in employee corrective actions per HR policy
Education/ Qualifications
Licensed as Registered Nurse in South Carolina with three (3) - four (4) years clinical experience. Supervisory skills required.
Master's degree required within three (3) years of date of hire. If the Master's degree is not in nursing, then BSN is required with a Master's degree in related field as approved by the Director / AVP or CNO.
**Certification in nursing executive (NE-BC) or nursing executive, advanced (NEA-BC) preferred.
