POSITION SUMMARY
All Registered Nurses (RN) are responsible and accountable to
independently care for a group of assigned patients for a designated
time frame. Delivers care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing
process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and
evaluation. Provide patient care and physician assistance for a variety
of patient types and cases/procedures in the Emergency, Surgery, and
Outpatient, OB and/or Medical/Surgical departments per training and/or
certification competencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and maintain a plan of care
for every patient. Conducts patient assessments, identifies, and
addresses patient needs and goals, including patient teaching and
discharge planning.
Initiates physician orders; implements standing orders and protocols
when appropriate. Administer medications, blood products, and/or
treatments based on physician orders, and in accordance with hospital
policy.
Collects, records and reports patient data. Documents and communicates
information regarding patient status through the EHR and verbal reports.
- Assists providers with outpatient procedures.
Maintains knowledge of location, use and operation of all instruments,
supplies and equipment, in all applicable departments.
Provides support and oversight to ER techs and C.N.As.
Provides support on holidays and weekends to the ER-Tech so they can
complete the routine duties of the Central Supply Department.
Requirements
All Registered nurses are required to have a valid Idaho RN licensure,
or eligible, with the Idaho State Board of Nursing. Current BLS
certification required. RN2, RN3, and RN4 must obtain and maintain
current ACLS, PALS, and NRP status. RNs must be able to demonstrate the
ability to prioritize tasks, use good judgment in the delivery of
patient care and communicate effectively with patients, family members,
care team members and providers.
All ER nurses must be certified independent by the CMO and CNM/CNO
before they can work independently in the ER. They must have taken TNCC
or ATLS classes.
