The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a high-caliber Operations Budget Analyst to serve as the financial architect for the Operations Division. In this pivotal role, you won t just manage spreadsheets you will provide the fiscal oversight and strategic insights that empower our Motor Carrier, Traffic & Safety, Railroad, and Aeronautics divisions to keep Utah moving safely and efficiently.
Principal Duties
As the primary financial partner for the Operations leadership team, your impact will include:
Strategic Partnership: Acting as a trusted advisor to division leaders, translating complex financial data into actionable strategy.
Comprehensive Oversight: Driving the coordination and centralization of multi-divisional budgets to ensure transparency and long-term sustainability.
Hands-on Division Support: Providing dedicated, full-cycle financial support (forecasting, reporting, and analysis) for the Motor Carrier, Traffic & Safety, Railroad and Aeronautics teams.
Process Optimization: Streamlining reporting workflows and ensuring rigorous compliance with state and federal standards.
Vision Alignment: Ensuring every dollar spent directly supports UDOT s mission of enhancing quality of life through transportation innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have at least five (5) years of related professional experience reconciling, analyzing, and budgeting financial data. Completed higher education coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Work Environment
Working Conditions: This position primarily involves work in a typical, climate-controlled office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Standard office safety practices (e.g., safe use of equipment, observing fire regulations) apply.
Physical Requirements: The work is largely sedentary (sitting comfortably to perform work). However, the role may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving a vehicle.
Note: Employee may be reassigned to different locations based on the needs of the Region Director or Group Leader.
