We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Level 1 to develop and define requirements from project inception to completion within a specific subject matter area. This role involves analysis, evaluation, and preparation of system recommendations for improvement, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge in specific software or system tools and contribute technical leadership in information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, risk management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop requirements and strategic plans for assigned subject matter areas.
Assist project members with technical analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving.
Prepare recommendations for system improvements, optimization, and development efforts.
Provide expertise in information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, communications protocols, and risk management.
Contribute specialized knowledge in software lifecycle management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.
Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring system integrity and compliance with DoD cybersecurity regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, working closely with engineers, analysts, and DoD leadership.
Serve as a technical liaison, ensuring project alignment with mission-critical DoD initiatives.
Maintain knowledge of emerging DoD technologies, threat landscapes, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance: TS preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree OR
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience with a master's degree or higher.
Skills:
Expert-level knowledge in specific software or system tools related to DoD applications.
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
Ability to support complex system evaluations, design specifications, and implementation strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with classified DoD systems and security-compliant environments.
Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST standards, and federal cybersecurity policies.
Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, ITIL, or DoD-approved technical credentials.
