ITS Analyst I:Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS). Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems. May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.ITS Analyst II: (in addition to the ITS Analyst I description)Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:ITS Analyst I:Analyzes, researches and recommends hardware and software needs, including assessing resources utilization and justification. Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunication related problems. Coordinates project schedule for the installation, implementation and upgrade of systems. Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, local area networks (LAN) and information security administration. Prepares and presents demonstrations on ITS. Provides technical assistance and support for ITS. Researches and evaluates vendor supplied hardware and software. Reviews traffic management plans and inspects project sites to ensure compliance with system requirements. Provides technical assistance and inspections in the field as needed. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.ITS Analyst II:Consults users as the primary source of contact for ITS development and support. Provides training to users regarding ITS. Analyzes, researches and recommends hardware and software needs, including assessing resources utilization and justification. Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunication related problems. Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, local area networks (LAN) and information security administration. Keeps abreast of new technology to improve current and projected systems. Provides technical assistance and inspections in the field as needed. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
