JOB SUMMARY
The Texas Facilities Commission is seeking Incident Monitoring Analysts to work in our 24/7 Incident Monitoring Center. In this non-supervisory role, you will utilize event tracking and system management tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and document system events. Systems include fire safety, access control, cameras, building automation, gas monitoring, and network-related components such as switches, uninterruptible power supplies, and servers. This is an in-office position at our Central Services Building in downtown Austin. As part of a dedicated team, you will leverage your attention to detail to minimize or eliminate downtime for vital agency systems, providing significant value to our agency. The ideal candidate will assess risks, perform troubleshooting, and assist in report preparation and policy development. The Incident Monitoring Center provides intelligence to the Incident Command Structure and as such, this position demands a proactive individual who can effectively coordinate with technical teams and provide system awareness to leadership.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Monitors event tracking and system management tools to identify and respond to real-time alerts affecting critical systems.
Track and assess weather conditions to preemptively address potential disruptions to agency operations.
Monitors local news and emergency alerts to identify risks impacting agency facilities and personnel.
Respond to incidents based on predefined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalate issues as necessary.
Perform minor troubleshooting tasks.
Assist in the preparation of reports.
Utilizes event tracking and system management tools to document events and provide vital system awareness to agency leadership.
Utilize workorder management system and contact lists to promptly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate technical teams.
Assist in developing policies and procedures.
Must be able to work flexible hours during a legislative session and as needed.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Education and experience
Graduation from a standard senior high school or completion of GED is required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in any one of the following areas is preferred: Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Security Management, or Network Administration.
In lieu of a degree, equivalent practical experience with incident detection, Cybersecurity Incident response, or Network Security Monitoring is preferred. Pay will be commensurate with years of experience.
